4 Restaurants to Try in Denver
When I was living in Wyoming, I took many trips to Denver. It was a short drive from where we lived in Laramie, only about two and a half hours. Laramie was a cozy place to live but sometimes it was just necessary to get out of town and enjoy the big city, especially the cuisine!Jokulsarlon
We are both big fans of food and even though we enjoy cooking, we also really enjoy eating out. Our trips to Denver were filled with food adventures and we tried to visit new places every time we went. Denver’s International Airport is big and serves as a connection both within the States and also to other continents. Because of that I believe many people stop by in the city. As a true foodie, I want to start a new series where I share some of my favorite restaurants I visit. I think Denver is a good place to start. Out of all the bites and sips I took in the city, these restaurants were the most memorable to me and ones I would visit again. Lavender
The Kitchen
Our first visit to The Kitchen was in October when my in laws came to visit us. The restaurant’s motto is “community through food”. The atmosphere is very homey and inviting but the hip interior makes it cool at the same time. We were in a meat mood and most of us ordered the Hanger Steak Frites. We were not disappointed. Served with home made fries and some greens, I left The Kitchen feeling happy, full and satisfied!
Aoba Sushi
Our knowledge of this restaurant’s existance came from a session of googling. We got a seat by the chefs’ station and got to admire the magic of sushi being made. The service was excellent and the sushi was so good, we ordered more. It’s a pretty expensive restaurant and from what I hear you get a better deal at lunch but to us, every bite was worth it. Owned by a very experienced Japanese sushi maker who has worked in Japan, New York and now Denver, I recommend this place to every sushi lover out there!
The Hornet
We were hungry travelers who randomly passed by this place at the right time - lunch time. We wandered in and were seated by a friendly staff member. This visit started my very passionate love affair with grilled cheese and tomato soup. They offered one with brie and ham and I almost ordered another one to go, it was just so delicous. Since then we have only eaten at The Hornet for breakfast or lunch, but I highly recommend it. It’s not a fancy spot but they have an interesting menu and to me, one of the best grilled cheese and tomato soup combo I’ve had.
Tamayo Restaurant
This place is located at Larimer Square, a very charming street in downtown Denver. I love Mexican food and hadn’t had it for a while so Tamayo Restaurant was a tempting option. Stylish interior, fun menu, bold flavors and good tequila turned us into fans in one night. Be sure to try their guacamole, they have many versions!
Next time you’re in Denver, try one or all four of these restaurants. Your tastebuds will thank you!
